L1A1 SLR Semi-Automatic Rifle Replica
A replica of British L1A1 SLR (Self-Loading-Rifle). L1A1 is a British, so-called “inch version” of Belgian FN FAL assault rifle, which was used by over 70 countries in various, modified versions. Today, FAL has almost ended its service, although it is still used in some parts of the world. FAL’s story begins circa ‘46 when FN (Fabrique Nationale) has started working on a new rifle with a chamber for German 7.92x33 mm Kurz bullet. From ‘53 to ‘54 FAL was tested by American army and the construction was adapted to fulfil their needs, i.e. use 7.62x51 mm NATO ammunition.
The replica is a British version of FN FAL, known as L1A1 SLR, used, for instance, during the campaign in Falklands. The replicas is the result of ARES efforts to introduce L1A1 to the airsoft world. The replicas is mainly made from metal with the exception of steel dust cover, magazine and transport handle. Polymer parts include the stock, pistol grip and hand guard.
The replica features a fire mode selector with only two settings (like in the live firearm original):
- S - Safe;
- R - Round.
Battery is located inside the stock of the replica, in order to gain access to it, the stock pad needs to be pulled back and turned in order to be tilted. The replica has Tamiya small connectors and is compatible with LiPo 7.4V batteries. It has a fully operational Hop-Up system that can be adjusted after pulling back the charging handle.
ARES has prepared this replica for Japanese market, which means that precise craftsmanship and excellent fit of internal parts together is to be expected.
The replica comes with a steel mid-cap magazine with a capacity of up to 120 BBs.
