Lithium-ferrous batteries are a new on the market power source that characterizes high electric efficiency, small size and, what is important, low risk. Depending on the manufacturer, packages of this type may conduct up to 1000 of usable work cycles. The technology of creating lithium-ferrous batteries has contributed to the significant increase in longevity and allowance of worse work conditions without the risk of damage in comparison to other lithium-based batteries.
LiFe packages can be stored when charged. The risk of combustion or explosion in such a case is minimal. Currently, these are one of the safest batteries on the market.
Voltages acquire from lithium-ferrous batteries are insignificantly lower than those of LiPo or LiIon batteries. It does not, however, influence in a meaningful way the electrical efficiency. Discharge curve for these batteries is more beneficial than in the case of traditional NiMH batteries.
In order to avoid damaging the packages and to prolong their longevity it is forbidden to discharge a battery to less than 2.5V per a cell. It is vital to remember that unused packages are also slowly discharged.
To maintain good condition of LiFe batteries good, microprocessor chargers should be used.
