Lithium-ion polymer packs (LiPo) are the successors to the well-known lithium-ion (Li-Ion) packs. The main advantage of LiPo batteries is undoubtedly their capacity-to-size ratio. They feature very compact dimensions while maintaining very high current output, allowing a suitable pack to be selected for virtually any AEG replica. They have no memory effect and can be charged very frequently without prior discharge. Frequent charging is actually beneficial for this type of battery.

It is important to ensure that a LiPo pack is not discharged below 3 V per cell or overcharged above 4.2 V per cell. Another advantage of LiPo packs is their low self-discharge rate. An unused pack loses approximately 3–5% of its energy per month. The pack should be monitored, as very long-term storage may result in discharge below the minimum allowable value (3 V per cell) and irreversible chemical reactions, which may lead to deterioration of the pack’s properties, permanent damage, or in extreme cases, ignition. An unused LiPo pack should be stored at approximately 70% charge.

With proper use, the average lifespan of LiPo packs is 500–700 cycles. An important factor is the temperature at which LiPo packs can operate. Unlike other batteries, LiPo cells perform well in low temperatures; however, they should be charged at room temperature. To maintain good condition, LiPo batteries should be balanced during charging using the service connector, which most LiPo packs are equipped with (a good LiPo charger has a built-in balancer).
