The CZ pistol - CZ 75

The CZ 75 9mm pistol was created during the time of Czechoslovakia. The prototype was designed in 1975, and production began in 1976 and has continued to this day. Of course, the first model of the firearm is no longer produced because it has been modernized, improved, and adapted to the needs of various professional groups over the years. Over the more than 40 years of the history of this particular model, more than a million CZ 75 firearms have been produced in various versions and with different parameters. However, they still strongly refer to the main CZ 75 pistol design. What were its most important parameters? The initial bullet velocity was 350-400 m/s, and the maximum range was 200 meters. The double-row magazine held 15 Parabellum bullets arranged in a checkerboard pattern, and only in subsequent models was their number increased. The CZ 75 pistol was lightweight and precisely made.  It weighed around 1 kg, and the barrel length was 120 mm. Let's see what was improved in the subsequent CZ 75 designs.

The CZ SP-01 Shadow pistol was designed with practical IPSC shooters in mind, who have to perform shooting tasks while on the move and under time pressure.  Such conditions are encountered during real operations of various law enforcement agencies. During dynamic IPSC tasks, a sports pistol must fit perfectly in the hand and allow for stable shots to be fired. This is exactly what characterizes the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow, which was created as a result of consultations not only with the world of sports shooters but also with police officers and military personnel.

The new frame of the pistol has a better contoured grip and a lighter trigger pull due to the removal of the firing pin block. It's also easier to aim thanks to the use of fiber optic sights.  Although the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow is a pistol created for sports purposes, it is also used by law enforcement agencies.

Only for sports purposes was another model designed, the CZ Shadow 2.  It is successful in dynamic and target shooting. Like the CZ Shadow 1, the Shadow 2 also utilizes a 9x19mm caliber and works in both Single and Double Action systems. It is used not only by professional athletes but also by those who shoot recreationally.

Law enforcement agencies also use other models of CZ pistols in their professional activities.  The CZ P-10 series is also used by the Polish Police. An example of this type of weapon is the CZ P10C combat pistol. It was created for military applications, so it must meet rigorous military requirements. The frame of this version of the CZ 75 is made of reinforced fiberglass polymer, which increases its resistance to mechanical damage. The most important advantage of the CZ P-10 pistol is the convenience of use and its ergonomics. The grip can be perfectly tailored to the needs of a specific shooter, and this is made possible by interchangeable overlays that are selected depending on the size of the hand. This model also has the option of expanding the magazine capacity.

Other well-known models of CZ guns

When mentioning the most important weapons created by Ceska Zbrojovka, we must mention older models, which used innovative solutions for their time. The CZ 75B model introduced an automatic safety, which made it possible to carry the weapon with a cartridge inserted into the chamber. The CZ 75 Police model was designed with a special chamber that had a cartridge presence indicator. The next version, the CZ 75B, or CZ 75 Dao pistol, had a trigger mechanism with only self-cocking. The CZ 75 Auto is a pistol created specifically for special forces units, which is both automatic and semi-automatic, and the front spare magazine also serves as an additional grip.
