Machine guns enabled large-scale support fire, and the German MG42, with its impressive rate of fire and accuracy, was considered one of the best models of its kind in history. The American Browning M1919, mounted on vehicles and ships, provided support fire for infantry units, while the British Bren Gun - also used by the Allies - was valued for its reliability and versatility.
