PRK9 RTS Carbine Replica

PRK9 series of replicas by the known and well-liked G&G Armament includes incredibly interesting constructions that are hybrids of a classic AK and a submachine gun. The carbine was made mostly of metal, including elements such as the lid, muzzle device, charging handle and fire mode selector were made of steel. The pistol grip, magazine and stock were made of polymer.

The replica features two electronic systems: MOSFET and ETU (Electronic Trigger Unit) - that extend the replica’s lifetime and improve parameters such as the trigger reaction time or rate of fire, inform about low battery charge as well as a possible damage to the gearbox. In addition, ETU enables programming fire modes, including a 3-5 BB burst.

So the PRK9 RTS, my second G&G how has it gone down. Well first the good points, this is really solid well made gun with a snappy trigger response, full metal with a nice weight to it that when folded could easily fit into a small back pack. Out of the box on testing it was shooting 345-350 FPS with .20's with no hop and is capable of hoping .40's on the standard hop rubber. This gun is a cqb beast, it is so small and compact that you could be in the tightest of spaces and still have plenty of room to manoeuvre, but it also has a trick up its sleeve, it can reach out to one hell of a distance! Testing the gun using .30 bb's it can reach out to 65-70 meters (as measured with a LRF) with very reasonable accuracy, which I believe will improve even more once the hop rubber breaks in. Now the downsides and there are a couple, the battery compartment is SMALL, I have a number of lipo stick batteries (7.4 & 11.1) and the only one that will fit is a Nuprol 1450mah 7.4v deans, there may be others that will work but check the dimensions against the Nuprol to avoid disappointment. One other issue is the magazine, which while it fits well with virtually no wobble, it is very fussy on how you insert it into the magwell, it fits fine but just take your time on the first few attempts to avoid possible damage to the mag. Overall, this is a really nice compact gun with great potential, if it weren't for the battery space and picky mag action it would have been 5 stars.
