The GATE ASTER V3 SE Lite Module Expert Controller Kit
ASTER
V3 SE is a development version of the previous version of this chip.
Designed for the highest quality and reliability at an
attractive price. The system is intended for tuning replicas equipped with the
Gearbox V3 - tuned as well as stock replicas!
Characteristics of the Aster: - no USB-Link needed for installation and configuration - new trigger detection algorithm - high trigger sensitivity out of the box - extra protection against tampering thanks to multi-layer PCB -. Automatic Pre-Cocking - Compatible with brushless motors - Unlimited trigger sensitivity adjustment - Improved cycle detection - Active brake: Adaptive / 100% / 60% / Brushless motor / OFF - Resistance to reverse polarity -. Trigger programming - ability to set key functions - Using USB-Link
or Blu-Link you can configure advanced functions, perform
software update, run diagnostics or use the
GCS application - Lowest power consumption on the market - only 0,29 mAin deep sleep mode - Possible use of mechanical trigger lock

LITE VERSIONcontains the minimum kit needed for use which reduces waste.
The gate itself is a great upgrade for your gun, especially if it doesn't have a MOSFET. It turned my cheap-ish feeling G36C 7.4V replica into something as well performing as my other guns, especially with the 11.1V support, active braking, pre-cocking and battery protection.
However, I am very dissapointed with how many features are locked behind the need to have the USB or Bluetooth link. Fire selector zones, in-depth fire selector modes, trigger sensitivity and etc. all require you to have access to the GCS app, and even more dissapointingly, despite the fact that the option to "Set Trigger Sensitivity" exists through trigger programming, you still cannot access it until you link the GCS app.
If you want to actually fully use this gate be ready to spend twice the amount of the gate itself. The USB link costs around 50 euros and the BluLink (Bluetooth link) costs 70 euros. By only buying the gate you're pretty much stuck in "lite mode".
Since I don't have the USB or Bluetooth link my gun is kind of stuck in an almost perfect state. I don't like how sensitive the trigger is and since the G36 fire selector is a bit flimsy if you turn too far into full-auto you'll end up back on semi-auto or maybe even safe. Fixing these issues would cost me another 50 or 70 euros, which is pretty unfair since I don't feel like it'd be too hard to implement most locked options into trigger programming, especially trigger sensitivity since that's literally just locked behind a paywall and fire selector zones since we already have a calibration stage (for example you could make users set a "low", a "middle" and "high" zone for each fire-mode).
Additionally the installation instructions were pretty unclear. Each step often only has a single sentence worth of information so if you misunderstand something you'll spend days going through forums and trying to figure out where you went wrong. I spent an entire day troubleshooting before I figured out what they meant by "sanding the selector plate".
