When is Singles’ Day 2021 and what is its history?

The holiday was inspired by Trevor McWanda, who announced it in 2005. In the beginning, it was just a humorous gesture of opposition against Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is celebrated very loudly and for many weeks before the actual date; the media and stores won’t let us forget about it. We are attacked from all directions by discounts, promotional offers and slogans hailing Valentine's Day, which die out only on February 14 - that is, on Valentine's Day. Singles’ Day is a way to show the whole world that not everyone is, must and wants to be in love. Singles’ Day is also known as "Anti-Valentine's Day" or "Faustines" - in honor of the patron saint of lonely hearts - Saint Faustine.

However, as we’ve already mentioned, the holiday is not celebrated everywhere on February 15. Chinese Singles Day is celebrated November 11. What are its origins? Apparently, its inception dates back to 1993, on one of the Chinese universities. The students who invented it chose November 11 as the date. It contains as many as four numbers one, and the Roman notation of this number symbolizes a single person. So, it is the most “single” date in the whole calendar.
