Primal Combat G4 - is it really worth our attention?
Once, I heard a story that combat uniforms were created when soldiers started sewing on sleeves from regular uniforms to thermo-active T-shirts. I have seen many examples of creativity of military personnel and it is not difficult for me to imagine something like that. With time, this solution was picked up by manufacturers and thanks to this, we can use various solutions that were introduced on the wave of this innovation. The main characteristic of this type of construction is the combination of camouflage elements with materials that are better at dissipating heat. Anyone who has had the opportunity to go on an airsoft game in a uniform made of thick fabric with the addition of nylon in its fabric can imagine where the need for such an outfit came from. Traditionally, combat type uniforms have been used as a layer under tactical vests with various forms of ballistic protection. Over time, however, these solutions even moved to lighter configurations, where you can also take advantage of their perks. Today we will check how the latest proposition from the manufacturer Primal Gear, Primal Combat G4, is doing.
The uniform that I am describing today I had the opportunity to test during airsoft games and as you can see, it was also washed. Thanks to this, we can rely on real experiences. Bearing in mind that combat uniforms are valued mainly for their moisture wicking properties, I tried to take this outfit for quite intense games in familiar arenas. There, I could check for myself how the material behaves and whether the solutions used are practical and my impressions are clearly positive.
First look
The Primal Combat G4 uniform comes to us in a large plastic zipper bag. In addition to the clothing itself, the set also includes additional protective inserts. Unfortunately, there are no instructions on how to use these inserts in the package or on the package. This information is probably not needed for experienced people, but new players would definitely benefit from a small hint. The material from which the uniform is made is quite pleasant, but also quite thick. Both in the part on the torso, which is made of moisture-wicking material, and in other parts in camouflage.
The uniform is of a high standard, but not perfect. It is true that I have not found examples of crookedly sewn elements, but when buying this uniform, we must be prepared to find protruding threads that will need to be shortened either by using scissors or by gently and carefully tanning them. Besides, it's absolutely fine. The stitches are solid, resistant even to deliberate strong stretching and tearing. Pockets and other items stick well in their places. All regulators, fasteners and Velcro fasteners stay in their place and work properly. It is worth mentioning, because we will appreciate the good quality of workmanship, especially bearing in mind that the Primal Combat G4 as a set cost as much as the individual elements of uniforms of more renewed manufacturers are often priced.
Technologies
Combat Uniforms are known for various modern solutions. It is no different here. It is worth mentioning, however, that Primal Combat G4 is only one of the patterns offered. If we have a more limited budget, we can choose cheaper models that will offer a similar quality of workmanship without a few additional functions. The G4, however, is a multitude of interesting solutions. First of all, we find here spacious and easy-to-use pockets on the shoulders with additional panels for patches. Contrary to some of the uniforms on the market, the zippers work very lightly here and I consider this as a big plus. The sleeves are finished with a Velcro cuff and the thermo-active material is also sewn into the armpits, which will facilitate heat dissipation. Pants are also fastened with a zipper and additionally secured with Velcro. This solution makes them easier to use even with gloves, unlike traditional buttons. On the sides of the pants, you will find regulators, thanks to which we can change their circumference by a few centimetres. Pants offer us access to many pockets. We can find them on the back of the pants as well as on the thighs and at the waist. The thigh pockets are also closed with Velcro and can be additionally adjusted with a rubber band.
At first glance, we can see that the offered uniform has built-in knee pads. They can be removed for washing and thanks to the adjustment inside the pockets, we can also adjust their height, which is extremely convenient. At the belt loops, you will also find additional eyelets for hanging accessories such as keys or other small items. Waist pockets have no reinforcements to carry knives or a multitool, but also under them you will find smaller holes for this type of tools. The inside of the pants belt is lined with a very soft and pleasant material. This insert additionally minimizes the sliding of clothing tucked into pants. The pants have a fairly high waist, so keep that in mind when checking the size before buying. At the bottom, at the end of the leg, there is also a Velcro adjustment.
Pros and cons for impatient ones out there
Primal Combat G4 is not the first combat uniform I have come into contact with, but one of the few that made such a positive impression on me. It offers a lot of modern solutions available so far only in much more expensive uniform sets. Large adjustment possibilities, removable knee pads, well-thought-out pockets are the main advantages of the Primal Gear offer. In addition, the uniform is made of a pleasant material that does not lose its properties even after an intense airsoft game. The fabric from which the outfit is made is quite elastic and, despite its thickness, is comfortable. In my case, Primal Combat G4 is in the ATACS FG camouflage. The colours are expressive and vivid, so the outfit is not inferior in masking properties.
If you are considering buying a uniform from Primal Gear, I can definitely recommend Primal Combat G4. The protruding threads are probably the only drawback that I noticed in my copy. I recommend that people who will order their combat uniforms read the size table carefully and make detailed measurements to choose the right size.
